THANKS!

Dear Friend

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your continued support and positive attitude which has given Ladyzone a very strong foundation enabling the company to grow and prosper.

At Ladyzone we value the ‘family’ style atmosphere of our clubs but we could not do it without the support of all of our members. This month we saw all of our clubs up and down the country taking part in the Race for Life which is for a great cause and what a great day by all! It’s great to see us pulling together to do something fantastic!

We currently have 7 Ladyzone sites open in the UK with a further site due to open this month in Orpington but we realise that our success is testament to our great members -  wouldn’t have been able to do it without you!

HEALTH & LIFESTYLE COACHING - By Karen halifax

Karen Halifax - Ladyzone Qulaified Health & Lifestyle CoachWhats your Pay Off?
So many overweight people eat unconsciously and eat in places other than at the dining room table.  It’s easy to ignore the experience of eating and we find we’re eating simply because of habit or we’re doing other things at the same time eg watching TV.  Because habits tend to become automatic, we can stop paying attention to what we are eating, how much we are eating, where we are eating and what the real consequences of our eating behaviour are.

Much of what we do is habitual – counterproductive habits that we do over and over, time and time again.  With most types of habitual behaviour, including overeating, you may have started it for one reason, but continued it for another.  A good example of this is gambling.  A person tries gambling one day for the fun of it, then continues to gamble, now in an attempt to win money.  He gambles again and again, repeating the behaviour, and eventually gets hooked.

If you are overweight, did you start overeating for one reason eg betrayal, job loss, illness and you’ve kept on doing it as a matter of habit?  Are there eating situations in your life in which you seem to go on automatic pilot, not really thinking about food as you eat it?  When eating behaviour becomes automatic, you stop paying attention to the behaviour.  But the truth is, if you stop this pattern of mindless, automatic eating, you can slash the amount of calories you consume significantly and begin to regain control of your weight almost effortlessly.

Do any of these habits sound familiar?

o    Eating too fast or too much
o    Eating leftovers or dessert
o    Eating sweet, high fat food as a matter of habit
o    Sneaking food
o    Giving in to urges to overeat
o    Cleaning your plate most of the time
o    Eating in places other than at your kitchen or dining room table
o    Revolving activities around food
o    Bingeing
o    Night time eating

Up until now, you may have doing these things, going about your day, with little or no appreciation of their gravity or impact.  But with enough time and repetition, these behaviours create results, and those results are weight gain.  The good news is that this means it’s under your control.  Stop the behaviour and change the outcome.

You may logically wonder: if these behaviours are making me overweight, then why do I keep doing them?  Why do I keep doing something that I want to stop?  Why?  Surely no rational, logical person would purposely behave in a way that generated results that they do not want or that keep them from getting results they do want.  But no matter how rational and logical you think you are, you know that is exactly what you do.

One reason is the power of the pay-off.  A popular mantras is “People do what works.”  You will not maintain any behaviour that is not providing you with some kind of payoff.  In other words, you choose to keep doing the behaviour because, at some level, it works for you.  It generates some value for you, or you wouldn’t do it.  In some way, your behaviour must work for you.

To eliminate this destructive, illogical behaviour, you must first understand why you do it.  Knowing why you do something will help you not do it.  The more you understand about why you behave in ways that make you overweight, the more equipped you will be to fix your behaviour.

Next month we’ll explore further what the common pay-offs are and how they may affect you.

Ladyzone is pleased to announce May's Award winners.
